Terms of service
These are the rules for using Hale. Hale helps you track everyday habits. It is not medical advice, and it is for adults only.
Who we are
Hale is run by Dylan McMullan, REPLACE: your postal address. Contact: hello@halescore.com. By using Hale you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
What Hale is, and what it is not
Hale measures your daily habits against published public-health guidance and turns them into a score out of 100, a daily plan and an AI coach. That is all it claims.
- Hale is not a medical service. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, dietitian or therapist.
- The score is not a measure of your health or worth. It shows how your habits compare with general guidance.
- The AI coach explains your score and suggests habits. It does not diagnose, give doses or set intake targets, and it can make mistakes. If you have a health concern, speak to your GP.
- Don't change medication, or start or stop anything medical, because of something in Hale.
- In an emergency, call 999 (UK) or your local emergency number.
If food or exercise feels hard
If the assessment shows signs that numbers on food or training might not help you, Hale shows guidance instead of scores for those areas. If you are struggling with eating or exercise, please talk to someone you trust or a professional. Support is available from Beat (UK) and National Alliance for Eating Disorders (US).
Who can use Hale
You must be 18 or over. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you tell us and for keeping your sign-in secure.
Free and paid plans
- Free: the assessment, your Hale Score and your pillar breakdown.
- Free beta: while we test Hale, everything is free, including the habit tracker, the AI coach and score history. Features may change or break while we learn from your feedback. We will tell you before anything becomes paid, and you will never be charged unless you choose a plan.
- Paid (after the beta): the habit tracker, the AI coach, and score history and trends. Prices will be shown clearly before you choose, and we will tell you before a change affects you.
- Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time from the billing page in your account. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Your 14-day right to cancel. If you are a consumer in the UK, you can cancel a new subscription within 14 days and get a refund. If you asked us to start straight away, we may deduct a fair amount for the days you used. Email us to cancel and refund.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. If we offer subscriptions through an app store, that store's billing terms apply to purchases made there.
Using Hale properly
Please don't misuse Hale. That means not trying to break or overload it, scrape it, reverse-engineer it, use it to harass anyone, or share your account. The coach is for your own use and has fair-use limits.
Your content and ours
What you enter is yours. You give us permission to store and process it to run Hale for you, as described in the privacy policy. Hale's design, text, scoring model and software belong to us. You may share your own score card, and the link we give you, anywhere.
When we can suspend or end access
You can delete your account at any time from the account page. Deleting it does not cancel a subscription, so cancel that first. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or if we need to for legal or safety reasons. We will tell you why where we can.
Our responsibility to you
We take reasonable care in providing Hale, but it is offered "as is". We cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that following it will give you any particular result.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for anything connected with Hale is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
Changes and law
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you before it takes effect, and you can stop using Hale if you disagree. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also use your local courts.
